Physical Therapy

School based physical therapy focuses on improving movement, functional play, development of gross motor skills, strength, balance, posture, and flexibility for students to optimize their independence across settings and reduce barriers that limit independent participation in school and play. Physical therapists also can make adaptations to seating and the environment to improve a student's functioning  and independence throughout their day. Physical therapy addresses activities/movements that use large muscle groups like walking, running, climbing, ball skills, and more!

Here at Bloom our physical therapy department works to improve these areas through play and natural occurring activities throughout the school day. Our therapists may work in a designated therapy room, push-in to a classroom activity, or spend time on the playground to be able to optimize the independent functioning of our students across all settings.
