Overview - Integrated Preschool Program

The Bloom Education Process

At Bloom we provide Special Education Services, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Music therapy, with Wellness and Sensory Support Programs for our students. With a strong focus for children with autism, sensory needs, or of unique abilities we strive to provide the best we can offer for your family as you transition into the school system. Our integrated preschool classrooms are housed inside Care-A-Lot Childcare Centers, and our newest location, Bloom Early Learning Center.

Students’ programming allows for a full day class in an integrated setting based on their individualized needs. Students will experience group Speech, OT, PT, and Music Therapy once a week. These therapies are also available for individual treatment based on their IEP. Our weekly enrichment groups include art, yoga, and drama experiences that support sensory regulation, with the goal of building students’ “tool box” to transition back into full inclusion activities.

A typical day begins at 8:30 AM and includes creative play, snack, academic time, group therapy, group enrichment, lunch, gross motor play, relaxation and reading, and sensory manipulation ending at 2:30 PM. "Handwriting without Tears" is an example of one curriculum we use to assist students with pre academic skills through play. Students also have access to a fully fenced playground at each location complete with safety surfacing under gross motor equipment.

Students will also have access to a sensory room encouraging self regulation, with staff who have completed training on sensory processing disorder and the therapeutic benefits of sensory support. We utilize “Zones of Regulation '' in our preschool program which helps children recognize and understand their sensory needs and self regulate. This approach assists kids in returning to a typical education setting.

Collaborating with Care-A-Lot Childcare and Bloom Early Learning Center has allowed us tremendous space to set up sensory equipment, and transform our rooms into a temporary yoga studio. All of our preschool classrooms provide our children with a healthy and delicious free lunch program and offer wrap-around care for kiddos who need before and after school care. This program’s collaborative effort and communication with parents, the school district, care givers, and the interdisciplinary team not only develops the whole child at school and therapies, but also at home.

Our Philosophy: At Bloom we provide a gentle and loving approach in interactions with all living things. Whether we are communicating with tiny humans, older adults, our fellow team members, or a worm on the sidewalk, our correspondence stems from love. We believe that the foundation of all relationships should be reflective of a cared for and nurtured connection. Every person is unique. Every day is different. Our job is to be patient and empathetic, curious and understanding, accepting and loving. We expect BIG emotions and ready ourselves to support the person experiencing them. We celebrate differences and encourage change and growth. Just as a flower blooms when it is ready, so do the people we care for. Until then, we delight in planting the seed, nurturing the roots, watching and loving that flower as it grows.
