Are you ready for an Impromptu Jam Session?

What activity happened:

- Impromptu jam session in Miss Krysta's Classroom when the children were exploring different sensory objects. A student began using 2 straws as "drum sticks" on the table. Miss Gwen joined in the jam

session and initiated the next song by teaching "One, two, a one, two, three, four!"

Why it rocks:

- Initiated by a student with a creative imagination and 2 straws

- Encourages children to think "outside the box"

What it teaches:

- Anything can become an instrument when you use your imagination.

- Singing facilitates expressive language and speech development.

- Practices following a rhythm and hand-eye coordination.

What you can do at home:

-Sing songs throughout your day! For example, transition songs such as "clean up" and while washing hands.

Watch Miss Megan share her "Wash your Hands" video here that we use in the preschools.
