Setting the Tone with Music

Setting the Tone with Music Written by Megan Coltoniak, MT-BC

Setting the tone with music is something that I think about multiple times a day. Whether it’s in a classroom, in the car with my own kids, or at an outdoor playdate in the backyard. Incorporating music into your day can lengthen attention, increase participation, or even increase the fun! The trick is to select your musical theme carefully, and observe the changes around you. My husband often jokes with me to change up the music because he needs more energy. “more energy mom! more energy!”. Although he is half joking there is a lot of truth to it. My counting crows radio mix on Pandora is not going to cut it if we are looking to get the kids off the couch and participating in helping us with some baking! I sometimes change my list 3 or 4 times in the span of 10 minutes to get the right feel for the evening. So, let my obsession be of benefit to you and your family! I hope you enjoy the chart I made below with some solid mixes for every occasion!
