A Journey of Love and Kindness
It’s 11:11—make a wish…
BloomiVerse across the Universe.
Two years ago, I glanced at the clock and saw that magical time, 11:11. I didn’t fully understand its significance then, but I felt a powerful urge to spread love, kindness, and acceptance. I wanted children, even those thousands of miles away, to feel they belong and are cherished just as they are. But how could I achieve this?
With technology taking over our children's lives and new parenting strategies like “FAFO” replacing gentle approaches, I felt overwhelmed. Why are we yelling at our children instead of explaining? Why do we threaten and shame them? Why do we isolate kids in their rooms when they express emotions? And why do we struggle to access our own coping skills as parents? These questions weighed heavily on my heart.
But the universe kept nudging me, urging me not to lose hope. Then, one day—insert your favorite ‘granola crunchy’ joke here—I had a dream. I envisioned a golden tree with pink leaves, vibrant characters, and a whole neighborhood. Years of songs I had written about love, acceptance, diversity, coping skills, and kindness came rushing back. I knew I had to bring this vision to life. With my incredible team at BloomiVerse, we got to work.
The Reality of Technology Use
Today, technology use among young children has reached alarming levels. Tablets have become babysitters, and many kids swipe screens instead of turning the pages of a book. As a result, they often miss out on essential social-emotional skills needed to interact with their peers. This is not just a moment of “If you can’t beat them, join them.” It’s a recognition that the world has changed.
Gone are the days of 9-5 jobs. My phone is always within reach, and checking my email has become as routine as brushing my hair. It’s a constant cycle. While I don’t agree with excessive technology use, I understand that it’s a reality for many modern families.
That’s where BloomiVerse comes in—a safe online space for children and their caregivers to explore emotions, coping skills, diversity, and kindness. If you need to hand your child a tablet or phone to have a moment for yourself—whether to talk to your spouse, respond to an email, or even call the doctor—consider giving them access to BloomiVerse. And if you can, join them in our world for a little while.
The Power of Music and Co-Regulation
One of my strengths is creating catchy tunes—ear worms that stick in your head. My goal is for these melodies to benefit you and your child. Parenting can be chaotic, and we all need gentle reminders to access our coping skills. Co-regulation in parenting is crucial. When you breathe, they breathe. This simple act adds oxygen to both your brains, allowing you to move forward more effectively.
One of my favorite choruses is:
“Restart, and things get better.
Restart, and solve the problem.
Restart, and things get better.
Sometimes, we have to stop and restart.”
What a beautiful gift it is to know that no matter how challenging the day has been, we can always restart, erase the past, and begin anew.
